Josh Chapin is an American Anchor/Reporter working for the ABC11 News team as a Reporter and fill-in anchor since February 2018. There he reports for the station every weeknight at 11 pm. Prior to joining Eyewitness News, he was working with KHOU News which is a CBS affiliate station located in Houston, Texas. There he was working as a general assignment reporter between January 2015 and January 2018.

Chapin was born and raised in New York, the United States to his loving and caring parents. His grandfather happens to have been working with the military after graduating from medical school. Additionally, he also worked with the military as a battalion soldier for the 77th NY Statue of Liberty Division. Additionally, he also earned the Purple Heart after he was wounded in a motor attack.

He is a no-stranger to the North Carolina area as he is a proud graduate of Duke University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics and a minor in media policy in the year 2009. Chapin is also a proud graduate of Quinnipiac University where he obtained a Master of Science in Journalism in the year 2018. He was also interning at another station in the Raleigh Durham market.

Chapin works with the ABC11 News Team as a Reporter and fill-in anchor since February 2018. He had spent more than three years working in Texas, one of the most populous cities in the United States. There, he was able to cover a number of stories such as Hurricane Harvey and the devastation and humanitarian response. Additionally, he also happens to have covered the Astro’s first World Series title in the year 2017. In addition, he also covered Super Bowl LI and the Final Four.
The year 2015 saw him providing coverage to all TEGNA’s affiliate stations throughout the Southeast during the night a gunman opened fire in a movie theater located in Lafayette, Louisiana. He also donned cowboy boots in order to report on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This is in addition to covering tossed beads into the crowd during Mardi Gras in Galveston.
Prior to moving to the Texas region, he was working for about two years in the Nutmeg State where he was working as a fill-in anchor and reporter with the WVIT team. This is an NB affiliate station located in Harford, Connecticut. He counts it a privilege to have been in the team of a Peabody Award-winning team for its 2012 coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The year 2013 saw him spend a week covering the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Chapin additionally extensively reported on transportation issues that were focusing on Metro on the North. In addition, he was part of a team of first reporters to arrive on the scene during the 2013 train derailment in Bridgeport which injured more than 70 people.
