Before that, she was working as an anchor with the WSLS-TV team located in Roanoke, Virginia where she was co-anchoring the evening news at 6 and 11 p.m. Gibbs is a proud graduate of Auburn University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism(PR) and where she also obtained a minor in sociology.
Through her career, she has been able to travel severally where she has moved to New York City with a Durham breast cancer survivor in order to meet “Good Morning America’s, ” Robin Roberts. Additionally, she also met a miracle family comprising a young mother with cystic fibrosis who was privileged to survive giving birth and a double-lung transplant. Additionally, she counts it a privilege to have the honor of getting to tell stories of a soldier, a local veteran in the homebuilding industry who built a house for free for a triple amputee Iraq war soldier and his wife.
She enjoys being active in the community and participating annually with talented young local golfers in the ‘Jimmy V Jr Celebrity Golf Classic,” who raise money for pediatric cancer research. She participated in various fundraising events benefiting groups ranging from the MDA, American Cancer Society, and Building Together Ministries.
Away from work, she enjoys traveling, moving back home to enjoy time with her family and friends, and college football. She resides in Raleigh with her Maltese, Sophie. She wished her dog a happy 16th birthday on her Instagram account on the 12 of February 2021.
