Amber Rupinta is an American Anchor/Reporter/Meteorologist working with the ABC11 Eyewitness News team since joining the station in February of 2004. She is working as an evening anchor for the station and also as a meteorologist. This is in addition to bringing in reports from the Triangle.

She is a no-stranger to the Carolinas as she had spent several years while growing up on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Additionally, she is one of the eight children and a military brat who had spent her childhood in interesting places all over the United States. Her father joined the Navy in order to immigrate to America from the Philippines.

She is a proud graduate of Towson University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism in the year 1998. Later on, she graduated from Mississippi State University with a Certificate in Operational Meteorology in the year 2016. She joined the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where she earned a graduate certificate in Technology and Communication from the UNC-CHape Hill School of Journalism. Later on, in August of 2017, she earned a second Bachelor of Science in Geoscience and Operational Meteorology Concentration Degree from Mississippi State University in the year 2017.

Rupinta is working with the ABC11 News as an evening anchor and Meteorologist. Upon joining the ABC11 News Team, she spent about five years working as a weekend morning co-anchor where she later worked as an early riser for the station’s Eyewitness News This Morning, where she undertook this role for about eight years. Later on, she undertook the role of an evening anchor where she anchors the news at 4 and 5 p.m.
Among her prominent stories that she has been able to cover includes covering Presidential candidate Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Hillary Clinton as they were battling for N.C voters. Additionally, she also reported on an attack at UC-CH, the Carthage nursing home massacre which left about 8 people dead, the Conagra plant explosion, and various hurricanes. She did these reports for her station ABC.
Prior to joining the ABC11/WTVD team, she was working for the WCAU team in Greater Philadelphia Area where she was working as a General Assignment Reporter/Lifestyle Entertainment Show Host between January 2003 and February 2004. Before this, she was working with the Traffic Pulse Networks/WCAU as a Traffic & Breaking News Reporter between September 2001 and January 2003. Rupinta also previously worked with the WHAG TV team as a Reporter/Anchor. She kick-started her career working with the WJZ team in Baltimore which was prior to becoming a reporter on the Baltimore Sun High School Sports Show.
Rupinta is a proud member of the National Weather Association, and the Asian-American Journalists Association.
