He went to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in broadcast journalism. Yanity serves as a sports anchor and reporter at 6, 7, 10, and 11 p.m. on WSPA-TV based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In addition to these roles, he is also serving as play-by-play assignments for the Southern Conference, the ACC, Clemson, and other entities for games in CBS Sports Network, the Nexstar Network, Fox Sports/Regional, and ESPN3 among many others.
He has also served as the producer and host of High School Red Zone which aired in the fall at WSPA-TV. Moreover, he served at the Clemson Tigers for football and men’s basketball where he served as the radio play-by-play voice from 2003 to 2014.
Prior to working at WSPA-TV, he worked at TV Network where he served as the Carolina Panthers preseason from 2001 to 2003. He also spent 12 years working at Wofford College football coach TV where he served as a host. He was also inducted into the Spartanburg school’s Athletic Hall Of Fame in 2002 as an Honorary Letterman. Previously, from March 1987 to October 1990, he worked at WBTW TV-13 in Florence, S.C., where he served as assistant sports director and weekend sports anchor. Prior to his tenure at WBTW-TV, he worked at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, W.Va where he served as a sports anchor and reporter.
Since he started his journalism career, he has covered several major sports events including Raycom Sports’ ACC Football Pregame show. He also covers high school sports, Super Bowl to The Masters, the World Series, and the Daytona 500. Yanity has won several awards and honors including the Associated Press in the Television/Best Sportscast category. He also received the South Carolina Sportscaster of the Year from The National Association of Sportswriters and Sportscasters. The South Carolina Broadcasters Association honored him with the Master Broadcaster, a lifetime achievement award in 2012.
