She kick-started her on-camera career working as an entertainment reporter for Television Azteca located in Mexico. Between the years 1998 and 2000, she was able to travel to the U.S., frequently where she was interviewing the top celebrities of the day. In addition, excited she was jumping at the opportunity in order to freelance at CNN’s Mexico City bureau. This was during the now historic 2000 presidential elections where Mexico’s ruling party lost party to power for the First time in over 70 years.
She holds 20 years of experience in reporting and producing which includes working in national, international, and local news. In addition, she has extensive experience in the area of documentary production. Among Gallardo’s earliest experiences was gaining opportunities that were provided to her by Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. The year 2004 saw her follow the Asian tsunami, where she traveled to Sri Lanka and Thailand in order to cover its aftermath. His resulting shows that were airing on National Geographic and The Weather Channel earned “Best Documentary” awards during the 2005 Telly’s.
Later in the year 1996, she included a brief stint working as a Washington correspondent for the WMAQ radio station. n addition she has also served as a production assistant at GMTV(Good Morning Television) located in London. Upon returning to the United States, she began her career in earnest. There, she landed jobs in Washington DC where she was an associate producer and was also working as a field producer for Hearst-Argyle TV and also working for Conus COmmunication respectively.
She has dual citizenship where she is Mexican where she was born and an American citizen. In addition, she is fully bilingual and bicultural. Currently, she resides in downtown Chicago. Away from work, she is a marathon runner and an Ironman triathlete. Additionally, she also enjoys theatre, art, film, scuba diving, traveling, cooking, and reading.
