Leland Pinder’s Career
Pinder works for CBS6 News as an Evening Anchor/Reporter. He was born in Charlotte, NC, and graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Pinder joins CBS6 News with more than 11 years of industry experience in his new role as evening anchor and reporter.
He spent almost five years in South Carolina’s capital city working at legacy NBC affiliate WIS-TV as the weekday morning anchor before moving to Richmond. Pinder experienced the career highlight of being a part of an Emmy Award-winning team during his time in Columbia.
The WIS News10 Sunrise was honored with Southeast Regional Emmy Awards in 2017 and 2018 for coverage of Hurricane Irma, for a range of local breaking news stories, and for the best morning newscast.
Lately, he was a big part of the station report on big stories including the kidnapping and tragic murder of a 6-year-old South Carolina girl which gained national attention, protests sparked by the death of George Floyd, and a statewide teacher protest at the SC State House.
He hosted and produced a weekly community affairs program entitled Awareness while at WIS. Prior to moving to South Carolina, he spent 2 years working at WCTI in Greenville/New Bern, NC as a Weekend Evening Anchor & Reporter and with Time Warner Cable News in North Carolina as an assignment editor in Charlotte for four years.
In his spare time, he enjoys a little tennis, shows, and concerts, hitting a few balls at the driving range, traveling, musical theatre, and checking out cool local coffee shops and restaurants.
