She had previously spent some time working at KRBK-TV based in Sacramento where she worked as the morning news anchor and reporter. Prior to her tenure at KRBK-TV, she worked at KCEN-V based in Waco where she also served as a reporter and anchor.
Borta has also won several awards and honors including the Association of Women Journalists’ Vivian J. Castleberry Award, numerous regional Emmy Awards, and Press Club of Dallas Katie Awards. She also won Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Awards and the industry’s prestigious lifetime excellence award. She has abeen recognised by several civic and charitable organizations including the Baylor Sammons Breast Center, Mi Escuelita, A.W.A.R.E. (Alzheimer’s Women’s Association for Resources and Education), and Cook Children’s Medical Center.
Borta went to the University of Texas at Arlington where she attaine dher Bachelor’s degree. Ater her youngest child was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, she was very much determined to find the cure for diabetes as well as breast cancer. Both her gradmothers, mother, and several cousins and aunts have had breast cancer hence motivated her to find the cure for this fatal disease. Due to her efforts in fighting breast cancer, she has won several accolades including a Macy’s “Heart and Soul Award”, the inaugural “Commitment to the Cure” award, and Co-Chair for the 2000 Komen Dallas Race for the Cure.
