Julian Glover Career

Glover is a Race and Culture Reporter for KGO-TV. In 2019, he made a trip to the Bay Area to join the ABC7 News team where he served as the South Bay Reporter and fill-in anchor. Afterward, in  January 2021, he accepted the new position with the station, leading their coverage of Race, Culture & Social Justice. The creation of this position is a demonstration of ABC’s commitment to covering pressing issues affecting marginalized communities in a more comprehensive and culturally competent manner and is honored to take on the responsibility.

Julian’s 2021 and 2022 reporting on discrimination in the home appraisal process and devaluation of Black neighborhoods prompted action by the Biden-Harris administration and spurred legislation in Congress to address longstanding inequities. The final results of these efforts will be chronicled in the forthcoming ‘Lowballed’ documentary focusing on appraisal discrimination, slated for a December 2022 release. In 2022 Glover’s reporting was awarded an Emmy and regional Edward R. Murrow awards for excellence in reporting on topics of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity.

Previously before joining the ABC team, Glover worked at WOIO-CBS 19 in Cleveland, Ohio where he served as a morning news anchor  and hosted a podcast-turned-talk show “Sunny Side Up.” While at WOIO-CBS 19 he covered the medical breakthroughs at the Cleveland Clinic, snow, the Cavaliers’ appearances in the NBA Finals, and the Dayton Mass Shooting.

Career

Prior to calling Cleveland home, he worked at WAVE 3 News in Louisville, Kentucky where he served as the anchor and reporter. He anchored breaking news for the station’s #1-rated morning show and reported on everything including the Kim Davis gay marriage saga, American Pharoah’s historic Derby win, and the UofL basketball scandal (both times). He also anchored the news the morning after the passing of “The Greatest,” Muhammad Ali.

For his coverage of the heroin-opioid epidemic and the toll, it took on children born addicted Julian won the Associated Press award. He began his career in sunny South Florida where he worked at Fox 4 in Fort Myers as a breaking news reporter and fill-in anchor and as an associate producer at the CBS-owned & operated station in Miami, WFOR. Glover earned his first Emmy nomination due to his investigative work in Fort Myers.

As a kid, it wasn’t unusual for him to get in trouble with teachers for being chatty in class. Thomas G. Pullen Elementary School had a burgeoning communications program and, by sixth grade, he was “majoring” in media production. However, he didn’t know much about media production at the time but that experience as a kid opened his eyes to the field of communications and journalism. Julian couldn’t be happier to call the Bay Area home and he is looking forward to exploring all it has to offer. He loves the arts, live music and festivals, great food, and a good laugh.
