After this, he went on to join Hope College located in Holland, Michigan, where he studied between 2015 and 2019. There, he obtained a bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Media Studies. During his time at Hope College, he served as a Producer for The Dutch Angle and Organizer for Hope College Broadcasting Club. In addition to this, he was serving as a member of the Lambda Pi Eta (National Communications Honor Society) Executive Board, Hope College Greek Judicial Board Chair, Alpha Theta Chi Executive Board, and Inter-Fraternal Council member. Schoenheider works for WEEK-TV where he serves the station as a Morning Anchor. Aside from this, he has served the station as an MMJ and producer in multiple shows at WEEK-TV. His broadcasting career began when he was working with the Communications Department at the school, through the creation of Hope’s first Broadcasting Club.

Having the web show, The Dutch Angle, the club gave students a chance to learn and grow in every aspect of what goes into making a good show. This is both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Later on, its success spurred the return of full-credit classes on the subject, which was after their absence from the course list for years.

During his time at Hope, he was working as an intern at WGN TV located in Chicago. There, he was serving as a Producer of a new show that was hosted by Larry Potash, who happens to be the longest-serving morning anchor in the country. The show was titled, Backstory, with each episode focusing on the fascinating history of Chicago and other American locales by taking viewers on location. To date, Backstory is in production and continues to grow its audience with every new season.

Later on, after his graduation from Hope, he began his professional career and moved to his father’s hometown of Peoria where he started off to work with WEEK-TV. His first position while working for this station was serving as a Producer for the 10 PM newscasts for Heart of Illinois ABC. Later on, he made a move to a full-time position producing the station’s morning show, Good Morning Illinois.

Back in the month of January 2022, he went dayside and began his reporting career, having been prepared with his experience both behind the scenes and in the studio. During the weekends, he was serving as an Evening Anchor at the Heart of Illinois ABC. He was anchoring and producing multiple broadcasts at the time. After the merge of 25 News and Heart of Illinois ABC, he went on to take up the role of weekend Anchor on the newly combined station.

In the month of March 2023, he made a move back to the morning news having joined 25News Today as an Anchor. This move was the first time in the history of WEEK-TV that a staff member made the transition from producer to full-time anchor in their tenure. In the course of his career, he has been privileged to be named Illinois News Broadcasters Association 2023 Best Small Market Reporter Runner-Up.
