Fortson is a Breaking News and Traffic Anchor for ABC7 KGO-TV. She is so happy to be telling people’s stories on ABC7 Mornings and helping people get out the door from the Traffic Center. While in elementary school, her parents bought her a children’s video camera. She would record her version of music videos and news stories, and host “premieres” for her family. Little did her parents know, they’d planted the first seed in her budding journalism career.
Jobina got her first real experience in news writing at her high school newspaper, The Tiger Tales. Her involvement in television and radio started while she was in college. While in her junior year, she was honored with the White House Correspondents’ Association Scholarship. After her graduation, she moved from Washington, D.C. to work for WMDT-TV on the eastern shore of Maryland. Where she reported on chicken farms, crabbing, and NASCAR for WMDT-TV. CULTURE SHOCK.
For her, it was a great experience and did everything including anchoring, reporting, producing, and photography. She even served as a floor director for one day because someone didn’t show up. Fortson spent two years in Maryland before she moved to work at WAVE-TV in Louisville, KY. Jobina has a love for the Kentucky Derby, hot chicken, and so many great people in the Bluegrass state. While in Louisville she served as a reporter and anchor for two years before moving to the Bay Area. Fortson is a big foodie.
