In a 2015 interview with Slate, Carfagno candidly shared that one of the most stressful aspects of her job was deciding what to wear. She explained that, unlike news anchors who can often remain stationary with their microphones, meteorologists need to move around. Additionally, this leads her to wear her microphone communicator device on a strap around her thigh, much like a “Bond girl.” Carfagno also mentioned that viewers had occasionally expressed disapproval of her outfits, particularly when they believed they were too form-fitting.
Dew points hold a special fascination for Carfagno, and she has earned the affectionate nickname of the “Dewpoint Diva.” In 2017, in preparation for The Weather Channel’s coverage of the Total Solar Eclipse, she provided tips on how to observe it and shared insights in an interview with People Magazine. Her exceptional contributions to the field were acknowledged in 2019. She was honored as a Meteorologist Hall of Fame inductee at the Weather Discovery Center in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
