Gaston works with the ABC13 team where she serves as a co-anchor for the evening news at 6 and 10 p.m. She first joined ABC13 News (KTRK-TV) in the fall of 1992 where she was co-anchoring the newly expanded Eyewitness News at 6 a.m. Later on in the year 1999, she left the station to join MSNBC located in New York. It is after this that she made a return to the ABC13 News Team.
Through the years with ABC13, she has been able to cover the Rockets Championships, the Democratic National Convention, and the O.J. Simpson trial in Los Angeles. While at MSNBC, she was working as a network correspondent where she was anchoring the 2000 presidential elections from one coast to another which includes Florida recounts.
In addition, she also counts it a privilege to have anchored President George W. Bush’s Inaugural activities. This is in addition to covering the Mid-East Violence, the South American earthquake, Elian Gonzales’ departure to Cuba, and the U.S. bombing in the Iraqi no-fly zone. She also worked as a fill-in anchor for NBC’s Weekend Today Show.
Among the interviews she has been able to cover includes an interview with Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Olympia Snowe. This is in addition to interviewing the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating, and Reverend Jesse Jackson. Additionally, she was working as an anchor/reporter for the WHTM-TV located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and the KLTV located in Tyler, Texas.
She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and was honored by the Associated Press Broadcast for News Reporting.
