Herzog works with the ABC13 Team where he serves as a Chief Meteorologist since July of 2006. His career has also seen him cover severe weather such as tornadoes and hurricanes in addition to floods. In addition, he has also covered almost all types of weather hazards that are faced in southeast Texas. His aim is to present the public with weather forecasts that are educational, informative, and fun.

Additionally, as a weather safety advocate, he frequently gives weather safety talks at local schools in order to help bring down storm anxiety and also empower students to make wise choices in times of dangerous weather. In cases of severe weather, he can be trusted to provide timely updates and also potentially life-saving information.

He is no stranger to Texas area weather as he has lived all his life here. He has received his calling for meteorology when Hurricane  Gilbert spawned a tornado that passed by his childhood home in San Antonio, Texas. During the aftermath, he later developed a deep passion and profound respect for the atmosphere by reading every weather book he could find. Then, he was prompting his classmates to label him “weatherman,” a  name he preferred over “schoolboy.” This is a career that paid him to forecast and talk about the weather which to him seemed to be a no-brainer even if it meant enduring corny weatherman jokes for the rest of his life.

Throughout his career, he has been able to win several awards and honors. Since his arrival at the station, he has been able to earn several honors and awards such as “Best Weathercast,” which is an honor he received in Texas from the Associated Press, top on-air personality which he received from the Media Alliance of Houston, and “Broadcaster of the Year” an honor he received from the National Weather Association.
