She has won several awards and honors including Emmy Awards for several stories including “Smuggled from China” and “Bringing Rosie Home.” Moreover, her coverage of “Bringing Rosie Home” was nominated for an Emmy and won the New York AP Broadcasters Award for Best Feature. On joining WCBS in 1993, she started off by serving as a reporter, was later given a raise, and started serving as a weekend co-anchor in May 1994.

Prior to working at WCBS, she worked for stations in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Steubenville, Ohio, and Richmond, Virginia. She is also very active in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as well as the Asian-American community. Cindy was also an active volunteer at a big brother/big sister program named The Asian Professional Exchange (APEX). She also spent some time working with The Humane Society of New York, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Museum of Chinese in America, and The Children’s Miracle Network.

Hsu spent some time serving as President of the New York Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association. Moreover, she also padded on a Dragon Boating team named Women in Canoe for several years. She is often volunteering in her community mostly helping out with people struggling with depression and mental health.
