On joining WCBS in 1993, she started off by serving as a reporter, was later given a raise, and started serving as a weekend co-anchor in May 1994.

Prior to working at WCBS, she worked for stations in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Steubenville, Ohio, and Richmond, Virginia. She is also very active in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as well as the Asian-American community. Cindy was also an active volunteer at a big brother/big sister program named The Asian Professional Exchange (APEX). She also spent some time working with The Humane Society of New York, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Museum of Chinese in America, and The Children’s Miracle Network.

Hsu spent some time serving as President of the New York Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association. Moreover, she also padded on a Dragon Boating team named Women in Canoe for several years.
