Layne is a Reporter/Multimedia Journalist working at WTVR. In 2014, he entered the world of broadcasting as a pop radio personality in Norfolk, Virginia. In 2017 he started his career in journalism s an assignment editor for Washington D.C.’s DCW50 News at 10p, which was managed from the CBS 6 newsroom.
He began producing newscasts for WTVR in 2018 and in 2021 executing the 5 p.m. news daily before becoming a reporter. for producing coverage of Governor Ralph Northam’s blackface scandal and removal of Richmond’s Robert E. Lee statue on Monument Avenue he received regional Emmy Awards.
Layne is passionate about reporting the hard stories and bringing accountability to powerful leaders and institutions. He is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, and is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. When he is not working, he covers for his youtube page, sing-offs, and creates mashups.
