Argen is a meteorologist for KGO-TV. While growing up she was always fascinated by the weather. After graduating from the University, she found herself focusing on the sky. The bleak winter landscape was a lot like Buffalo and she wasn’t sad to kiss South Bend ‘wind chills’, goodbye. She says the challenge of forecasting for the Cumberland Plateau and the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee made her earn her forecasting Seal of Approval. For two years she forecasted more lake effect snow and ‘Alberta Clippers’ that make winters famous in Chicago.
Lisa then got a lifetime chance after having a family, and the opportunity to test her forecasting skills against the microclimates of the Bay Area. She says that among her most memorable days are the first summer and the June fog that welcomed her home in 1995. Her biggest weather challenge was the El Nino winter of 1997. The tremendous pacific storms brought drenching rains and damaging winds to the Bay Area. This was the same year she was honored by the Bay Area Women in Radio and Television with an award for forecasting.
Argen with raising a growing family had to take a break from the weather where she spent two years with her family in Hawaii, before developing a case of island fever and sliding into the weekends at ABC7. She is excited to be back home and be part of the outstanding weather team at KGO-TV. During her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, and gardening.
