Brown serves at WTVG Channel 13 as a weekday evening news anchor. She co-anchors the 5:30 PM newscasts on 13abc Action News alongside Lee Conklin. She started her journalism career at KTVE-TV in Monroe, Louisiana where she served as a news reporter. From there, she went to work for WTOL-TV in Toledo, Ohio as a news reporter.
Brown has reported on various significant news stories such as severe weather – devastating tornadoes, where her report made the station win an Emmy. She has also covered local politics, fires, and presidential elections. She has also worked behind the scenes of ABC’s hit soap opera One Life to Live, The Rachael Ray Show, Good Morning America, and World News Tonight.
Brown is a proud inductee of the Hall of Fame of The Ohio School Board Association Media, which she was inducted in the year 2011 for her coverage of Education in the community. In the year 2009, Brown earned the Northwest Ohio Black Media Association Media Achievement Award. In 2007, she was honored with Associated Press Award and a Telly Award for “Hip Hop Math,” her story. She was also recognized with Toledo’s coveted 20 under 40 awards.
Brown is an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and NABJ – the National Association of Black Journalists. He is a committed community supporter and industry leader who regularly presents to women’s and girls’ groups about positive choices and personal development. Brown has served on the Board of Directors of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Blessings with Disguise.
Brown was a notable advocate for the Toledo Lucas County Library Summer Reading Club for over half a decade for her dedication to the community. When coming to Brown’s education, she is a grad of Ohio University where she graduated from the university’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
