Ross Ellet is an American Emmy Award-winning Meteorologist working for WTVG-TV (ABC) in Toledo, Ohio as a Morning Meteorologist. He joined the station in the hot summer of 2012.

Ellet serves at WTVG Channel 13 as a Morning Meteorologist. He is thrilled to work with the 13abc First Warning Storm Team. His forecasts appear from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on 13abc Action News from Monday to Friday. He is also seen on Toledo’s only 60-minute-long noon newscast. Ellet began his career in broadcasting in 2005 when he served at WLFI in West Lafayette, Indiana. He spent 2 years there working as the weekend Meteorologist. From there, he went to work for a station in southern West Virginia as a Morning Meteorologist. There he got a promotion to the station’s Chief Meteorologist.
Ellet has been passionate about the weather and forecasting since he was 5 years old. He used to watch television each and every day and made his own predictions. Growing up, he experienced ice storms, lake-effect snow, heat waves, tornadoes, blizzards, and floods. He got sparked with Meteorology after experiencing various extreme and severe weather.
Ellet has worked for KHBS/KHOG in Arkansas as a meteorologist. There he covered a catastrophic ice storm that coated the Ozark Mountains with 1-3″ of ice, just 2 months after arriving at the station. He also covered severe tornadoes and flooding for KHBS/KHOG. While there, he earned several awards for his special report on Arkansas black bears, as well as his severe weather coverage. Ellet has also worked for WBNS in Columbus, Ohio, and the Ohio News Network.
Ellet has earned various awards and honors for his work in meteorology. He holds 5 Emmy Awards and has been nominated 11 times for Emmys. He also holds the first place AP Award for Tornado Coverage (Arkansas) and second place AP Award for Best Documentary (Arkansas). Additionally, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) has honored Ellet with the highest seal of approval and holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation.
Ellet’s fav story at WTVG was covering the Coast Guard’s ice-breaking mission during the near historic Great Lakes ice report in 2015 and 2014. For the story, he and Todd Gaertner (his photojournalist) won an Emmy award. When coming to Ellet’s education, he is a grad of Purdue University where he obtained a degree in Meteorology, as well as a minor in Sociology and Communications.
During Ellet’s leisure, he likes hiking, photography, traveling (adventure), camping, astronomy, or rooting for his fav sports teams “Colts and Indiana Pacers.” Ellet also likes running in his spare time. He has completed seven half marathons.
