Castles serves KWTV-DT as a morning forecaster. He joined the News 9 team in 1996. Additionally, he has served the station for more than 2 and a half decades. When he was 7 years old, he witnessed a flood surrounding his house while large hail and lightning caused a power outage. This and other weather happenings realized his dream of learning about the weather.
Moreover, he has attained numerous awards and recognitions. For instance, SPJ Oklahoma awarded him 1st place in video for his service in the tornado broadcast of May 24th, 2008. Second, he attained an Emmy for the best morning newscast in 2011. To boot, the American Meteorological Society acknowledges him and gave him their seal of approval.
Castles has opulent forecasting experience that he gained from serving around the nation. Succeeding his brief service at KOAM in Pittsburg, Kansas, he went on to serve KWWL in snowy Waterloo, Iowa for three years. Later, he went to serve in North Carolina, serving as a forecaster between the Appalachians and the Atlantic at WFMY in Greensboro.
Moreover, he was validated by the governor to serve on the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council from 2005 to 2008. Additionally, he is a graduate of Oklahoma’s Partners in Policymaking. However, his passion lies in emergency preparedness and public awareness, especially for people with disabilities.
