He went to Indiana University where he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism. Cunningham serves as a weekday morning and noon anchor at WSPA-TV based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Since joining WSPA-TV, he has enclosed a ton of stories including consumer stories, occasional volatile weather, and feature tales.
Prior to this role, he served as the weekend sports anchor for 15 years. In this role, he covered NASCAR racing, the University of South Carolina and Clemson University athletics, three Super Bowls, the Atlanta Braves, the Carolina Panthers, and the Masters and Heritage golf tournaments. Since he started his journalism career, he has won several awards and honors including two the Associated Press Best Sportscast award. In addition to his roles at WSPA-TV, he is also working as the play-by-play voice of Clemson University football TV and hosted the Miss South Carolina Pageant.
Prior to working at WSPA-TV, he worked at WOLO-TV in Columbia where he served as a sports anchor and reporter till April 1987. He had previously spent some time working at WIFE-AM and WBWB-FM from 1980 to 1982 where he served as a news anchor, reporter as well as host of call-in talk shows.
