Buck Lanford is an American journalist who is working for WAGA-TV as a weekday morning anchor on Good Day Atlanta. He joined the FOX 5 Atlanta News team in 1998. Upon joining the station in 1998, he initially served as a weekend sports anchor for over a decade. Also, he serves the station as an interviewer on the popular weekly piece, Burgers With Buck.

Upon completion of his high school education at South Gwinnett High School, Lanford went on to join Georgia State University in 1986. After completing his undergraduate studies in 1990, he became its alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Business Management. While he was pursuing his degree, he served as an intern at WAGA-TV. While in high school, he played basketball and gained the South Gwinnett slam dunk championship in his senior year.

Lanford serves WAGA as a weekday morning anchor on Good Day Atlanta since July 2011. He joined the FOX 5 Atlanta News team in 1998. Upon joining the station in 1998, he initially served as a weekend sports anchor for over a decade. Also, he serves the station as an interviewer on the popular weekly piece, Burgers With Buck.
Further, he has eaten and given the coveted BWB “thumbs up” salute to numerous local restaurants and counting. While serving as a sports anchor, he has broadcasted The Masters, the Super Bowl, World Series, PGA Championship, Daytona 500, Final Four, titan fights, and the American Bowl in Tokyo. Actively, he progresses to serve in the station’s High 5 Sports broadcast.
Once, he broadcasted live while driving a race car and served as the “runnercam” reporter for the Peachtree Road Race. While serving as the “runnercam,” he was tasked with providing live reports and interviews while running the 10K with 50,000 other people.
Even so, he takes the most pride in his four-part series on the sport of wheelchair racing where he was very dedicated to the story that he partook in the 5K wheelchair race. Throughout his career, he has secured five Emmy Awards counting Best Sportscaster.
In addition, he was acknowledged by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with their Michael Schoenbrun National Media award. Also, he is heavily involved with the community where he serves as a speaker at multiple civic happenings. Prior to WAGA, he served in Savannah at WTOC-TV as a weekend sports anchor.
To boot, he serves as MC of the yearly Gwinnett County Hall of Fame awards ceremony. On a side note, he loves surfing, traveling, and playing golf. Also, he enjoys raising his children.
