Brooke’s mother, Terry was born on November 30th, 1954, and died in August 2020. She was raised by her father, Jesse Willard Scott, and mother Sybil Channel. Katz serves as the morning news anchor at CBS 11 based in Dallas, Texas. Prior to this role, she served as the Saturday evening reporter and anchor from August 2019 to January 2022. Before joining CBS 11, she worked at WCNC-TV where she served as the evening 4 pm anchor based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to this role at the station, she served as the noon and 4 pm anchor, as well as a traffic reporter at 4:30 am.
Katz had previously spent about 4 years and 7 months working at WHAS-TV where she served as an anchor, traffic, as well as a reporter from November 2010 to May 2015. While there, she was in charge of anchoring the early edition of Good Morning Kentuckiana at 4:30 am and Noon. She also anchored traffic news 5 am-7 am. From July 2008 to November 2010, she worked at WCBD where she served as a producer and reporter. Prior to working at WCBD, she worked at SHADES Theatre where she was an anchor from August 2003 to December 2005.
From 1999 to 2003, she worked at East Shore Athletic Club where she was a personal trainer. In 2003, she joined Rutgers University where she attained her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies in 2006. Katz is also an advocate for a nonprofit foundation called The Children’s Tumor Foundation which mainly aims to research a genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis.
