Begam serves as the 7 pm co-anchor alongside Lydia Kulbida at WTEN-TV based in Albany, New York. During her tenure at WTEN-TV, she has enclosed several stories and breaking news including the heroin epidemic in the Capital Region. She also enclosed the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting massacre, and school bullying issues, and went to Boston to report on the Marathon Bombings.
Prior to working at WTEN-TV, she worked at WRDW-TV in August, Georgia where she served as the morning news reporter from October 2010 to October 2012. She had previously spent 1 year and 1 month working at KTXS News in Abilene, Texas where she served as a crime and courts reporter from September 2009 to September 2010.
During her tenure at KTXS, she wrote, shot, and edited stories and was a reporter/photographer during the weekend. Previously, from July 2008 to July 2009, she worked at the Korean Office of Education where she served as an English teacher. Since she started her journalism career she has won several awards and honors including an Emmy Award. She is also volunteering at HOPE Soars for Parkinson’s, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and JDREF.
