While there he covered the 2019 massive tornado outbreak that leveled many small towns and killed several people in the Deep South. He previously worked at KAKE News in Wichita, Kansas as an Anchor. He is an Edward R. Murrow award-winning journalist with a passion for people.
Trent covered Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Harvey and was part of Nexstar’s first week on the air with News Nation doing live reports from the coast during Hurricane Laura. While growing up during the summer Bennett and his family visited the Florida coast and he is excited to now call the Sunshine State his new home. He enjoys going to the beach and has a 10-lb dachshund named Stella who goes everywhere Trent goes.
