Stacey worked as a morning news anchor when she first arrived in SWFL and later the 6 pm and 11 pm newscasts on their sister station ABC7. Deffenbaugh worked in Fargo, North Dakota, at KVLY for nearly five years where she was a co-anchor of the top-rated morning newscast prior to joining Waterman Broadcasting. Before that, she worked in Grand Forks, North Dakota as a one-man band (shooting video and reporting solo) and also worked at WDTN in Dayton, Ohio as an assignment editor.
In the year 2008, the Associated Press of Florida honored Deffenbaugh for a story about a Day Care in New Orleans recovering after Hurricane Katrina. Afterward, the Florida Coalition for Children honored her in 2009 with the award, One Person Can Make a Difference, for a weekly segment called Wednesday’s Child which highlights foster and adoptions in SWFL.
Later in the year 2012, she was named a Power Women in SWFL for her charitable contributions to our community. She was then named a Leading Lady of Southwest Florida in 2014 and in 2016 she was named a Women of Initiative in Collier County. She spends many hours helping non-profits in Southwest Florida raise money.
Stacey regularly hosts the Gulf Coast Symphony Gala, The Homeless Coalition’s Mistletoe Ball, The March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Auction, The Collier Building Association Sand Dollar Awards, The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon, and the American Cancer Society’s Imagination Ball and Bucket List Bash.
