The story which impacted her was the nearly two years of continuous coverage of the controversial police shooting of Stephon Clark in Sacramento that drew national attention. Shirin began her career at CNN in Los Angeles in her hometown where she worked behind the scenes. CNN believed in her and trained her which eventually helped launch her career.
