Friedman serves as the senior investigative reporter at NBC5 based in Dallas, Texas. On joining NBC3 in 2006, he started off by serving as a reporter and then shifted to weekday morning news anchoring. Since joining NBC5, he has enclosed several stories that earned the station awards. He has also won several awards and honors including five national Edward R. Murrow Awards, the duPont-Columbia Award, and a national News and Documentary Emmy Award.
He also won a Peabody Award, two national SPJ Sigma Delta Chi Awards, and the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) Award. Some of his investigations have also been aired on TODAY on NBC and NBC Nightly News. Prior to working at NBC5, he worked at WTMJ-TV (NBC) based in Milwaukee where he served as an investigative reporter and as a news anchor from February 1996 to May 2006.
From May 1994 to February 1996, he worked at WNDU-TV based in South Bend, Indiana where he served as a reporter and a producer. He went to The University of Notre Dame where he attained his Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Government in 1994. Whenever he is not busy working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends.
