In 1986, he joined The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications in 1990. Emerich serves as a Sports Director at WXOW-TV based in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Prior to working at WXOW News, he worked at KDUB-TV based in Dubuque, Iowa where he served as a weekend sports anchor. Since starting his journalism career, he has won several awards and honors including a Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Award for Best Sports Reporting-Division 3.
Prior to his current role, he served as a writer/producer on WXOW News’ half-hour special “A Golden Dream”. This program won him a WBA award for Best Documentary in 2003. The show was aired from 2002 to 2003 and revolved around the La Crosse Aquinas Boys state basketball championship. In 1995, he won an Associated Press award for Best Sports Reporting for “NFL Draft.” He is also an active board member of the “Coach Z Youth Basketball Camp and is an active member of the UW-La Crosse Quarterback Club.
