Berschback serves at WTVG Channel 13 as a Chief Meteorologist. His forecasts appear at 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 PM on 13abc Action News. Before joining WTVG, Berschback served at WTWO-TV in Terre Haute, Indiana as a noon and morning meteorologist. In Indiana, Berschback was responsible for interviewing a wide range of guests, reading news stories, hosting a live cooking segment, and anchoring the weather.
While in college, Berschback worked for WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan as a fill-in weather anchor. Also, at the same time, he served at Commercial Weather Services (CWS), Inc., a private weather forecasting company, where he was responsible for providing WJR-AM in Detroit with off-air and on-air weather forecasts. He flew with the Red Baron Squadron in August 2004 at the Toledo Air Show. Berschback’s experience in bi-plane loops and spins and flips. In July 2016, Berschback flew in an F-16 with the USAF Thunderbirds. He says that the experience felt like riding all of the roller coasters at Cedar Point at the same time for only minutes (45 mins).
One of his unforgettable career moments was in June 2000 when he participated in the coverage of commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Toledo Zoo. He created his national television debut while reporting on this story, and it appeared on “Good Morning America” alongside Tony Perkins. There he got to conduct a face-to-face interview with the host of “Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventure,” Jack Hanna.
Berschback holds Seals of Approval from both NWA – the National Weather Association and AMS – the American Meteorological Society. He is also actively involved in the 2 organizations. When coming to Berschback’s education, he is a grad of the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering. He graduated from the university with a bachelor’s degree in space science, oceanic science, and atmospheric science.
