Tiede attended Albany Area High School where she studied between 209 and 2013 and obtained her High School Diploma. Afterwards, she went on to join Texas Christian University where she studied between 2013 and May 2017. There, she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. She graduated with honors from the Bob Schieffer College of Communication.
Aside from this, she was minoring in kinesiology was part of the John V. Roach Honors College, and graduated as a Leadership Scholar. She went on to join The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars studying journalism in the year 2016. There, she interned at Politifact.com.
The month of January 2021 saw her make the decision to go back to school and pursue Meteorology. She graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology in the month of August 2023.

Tiede works for WNYT News Channel 13 serving the station as an Anchor and Meteorologist. She joined the station serving as an Anchor and Reporter and in August 2023, she went on to become a Meteorologist for the station. At the station, she serves as a News anchor for the live at 5, 5:30, 9, and 11 Weeknights News. She serves as a forecaster for NewsChannel 13 Live at 9-weeknight weather news.
Prior to this, she was working as an Anchor and Reporter for FOX 17 News located in Nashville, Tennessee. While there, she covered a number of major stories among them including anchoring four hours wall-to-wall, unscripted, after the Christmas Day RV explosion. Even after anchoring this news, she went on to do field coverage and did live shots over the next 36 hours.
This is in addition to covering the field for multi-day, wall-to-wall coverage of the deadliest tornado Nashville’s seen in decades, earning an Emmy Award for her work. Aside from this, she covered NASCAR’s return to Middle Tennessee for the first time in almost 40 years.
She was previously part of the FOX 17 News team as a morning reporter and as part of the 5-hour morning broadcast. This is in addition to covering several stories each morning throughout 10 live shots daily. She has also previously served NewsWatch 12 in Medford, Oregon as an anchor/MMJ/producer. There, she served as the main anchor for the station’s 4 p.m. broadcast and the main fill-in anchor for all other broadcasts.
During her time in Oregon, she reported, produced, and anchored breaking news broadcasts covering several devastating wildfires. Among them include the Chetco Bar Fire, the Delta Fire, the Camp Fire in Paradise, California, and the Klamathon Fire. She also traveled down to Paradise after the Camp Fire spending several days reporting live on the devastation. Then, she was reporting solo as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ).
Rachel Tiede Internships
During her time at the University, she had several internships which included the 2016 fall semester interning at PolitiFact in Washington, D.C. Aside from this, she was fact-checking and reporting on the Presidential election. This was in addition to doing Obameter updates, as well as working as part of the fact-checking team during the presidential debates. Then, she wrote about 11 fact-checks.
She has also worked as an intern at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There, she shadowed the reporters and worked at the assignment desk. There, she learned the ins and outs of the newsroom. This was in addition to interning for KSTP-TV in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she wrote original content for KSTP.com. Aside from this, she was managing the website, and social media and shadowing the reporters.
Tiede also interned as an anchor and reporter for TCU360 News Now, The Leap, and TCU360.com. Aside from her role as an anchor, producer, and reporter for TCU360, her TCY journalism experience included holding the executive editor position of TCU’s IMAGE Magazine. She also designed pages for the TCU Yearbook.
In addition to that, she was a member of the TCU Triathlon team and swam on TCU’s Division I Swim Team. She has also been a member of the TCU University Singers, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Order of Omega. In addition to this, she was a former member of the Tae Kwon Do club, as a First Degree Black Belt, and the TCU’s Women’s Chorus.
