Alvarez works with WESH 2 News where she serves the station as a News Reporter. The bilingual journalist joins the station with more than twenty years worth of experience on the anchoring desk and in the field covering big stories. Alvarez has covered the news in both English and Spanish.
She kick-started her broadcast journalism career in the Orlando market in the year 2000. Then, she was reporting on various hurricanes, launches from the Space Coast, and the Pulse nightclub massacre. Nancy was the first Central Florida reporter to travel to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
She made subsequent returns to the island multiple times in order to cover the damage and recovery efforts. Nancy is also well-known for her work in the community hosting political debates and the annual Puerto Rican ay parade. This is in addition to supporting numerous non-profit organizations.
Asides from this, she has served the Central Florida community with Heart of Florida United Way. She also worked with many other civic and charitable organizations that include the Foundation for Hope Partnership in Osceola County, Orange County Public Schools, Latino Leadership, and Junior Achievement of Central Florida.
This is in addition to working with Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation, and the Hope CommUnity Center in Apopka. She is a proud graduate of Florida Atlantic University where she studied between 1995 and 1999. There, she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies.
