Elkalla works for ABC 10 News/KGTV where she serves the station as a Morning News Anchor. She states that she cannot believe she gets to call San Diego her new home. Prior to joining the team in San Diego, she was working for KBAK/KBFX, CBS, and FOX affiliate stations in Bakersfield, California. She served the teams for about two and a half years as a reporter and weekend anchor.
While there, she was privileged to cover a variety of stories in Kern County. These include investigations, devastating wildfires, crime, and breaking news stories. Mimi found it rewarding to be able to share the stories of those in her community and make memorable connections with amazing people.
While in Fresno, she was interning for a local NBC affiliate station, KSEE 24. Asides from this, she has always had a great love for journalism. When she was an intern, she was able to see firsthand the amazing and exciting fast-paced side of TV News. This is what made her love for journalism grow even more. Away from work, she enjoys meeting new people, trying out the wide variety of restaurants around town, exploring all the amazing sights in San Diego, and trying out the wide variety of restaurants around town.
