His career began at KTTS radio in Springfield, where he served various roles including news anchor, reporter, storm chaser, and host of a weekly current affairs talk show.
He later moved to KQTV in St. Joseph, MO, working as an evening anchor and reporter. Returning to Springfield in 2010, Mike spent eight years as a reporter and fill-in anchor for another local TV station before joining the KOLR10/FOX 49 team as a reporter/weekend anchor in April 2021. By March 2022, he transitioned to the weeknight anchor desk at FOX 49.
Throughout his career, Mike has been recognized for his outstanding work, earning a regional Edward D. Murrow Award and receiving three nominations for regional Emmy awards. He has also been honored multiple times by the Missouri Broadcasters Association and Kansas City Press Club for his contributions to journalism.
Beyond his coverage of current events, Mike has a keen interest in historical topics. In 2018, he published “Show Me Katy,” a vibrant book detailing the history of the old railroad line that transformed into the Katy Trail across central Missouri. Additionally, he has produced and narrated several video documentaries, including “Phenix: the Life and Legacy of a Town Lost” and “Katy’s Country.”
