Before joining the station, she worked for WCIV-TV (ABC/FOX affiliate) in Charleston, South Carolina as a traffic anchor/reporter. She joined WCIV as a Multimedia Journalist. Rivers has worked for WLTX News 19 in Columbia, South Carolina as a news producer, assignment editor, and digital producer for 3 and a half years. There she produced a number of segments both on-air and online.
Rivers started her career in broadcasting at WQKI-FM in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she worked as a radio personality and technical producer. While in high school, she honed her public speaking skills by reading the morning announcements and delivering the news. Her talent became immediately apparent, since then. She has been nominated for an Emmy Award.
For her education, Rivers is a graduate of Claflin University. She attended the university in 2006 and graduated 4 years later (2010) with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mass Communications and Media Studies. Rivers is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. During her leisure, she likes spending time with her loved ones (family and friends), and exploring the outdoors.
