Beckwith is a Meteorologist working for KOMU 8 in Columbia, Missouri. Growing up in the Kansas City area, he never visited mid-Missouri until he decided to tour Mizzou, all in the hopes of pursuing a degree in Atmospheric Science. Remarkably, shortly after arriving in town, a tornado warning was issued. To him, that warning served as the unmistakable sign that he had found his rightful place. Keeping mid-Missourians safe and composed during the most challenging weather situations is both an honor and a privilege for him.
His journey at KOMU 8 began in 2016 as a student, taking on weekend weather responsibilities. Gradually, he worked his way up the ranks to become a full-time forecaster, all while completing his degree in Soil, Environmental, and Atmospheric Science from the University of Missouri. After several years as a full-time midday meteorologist, his dedication and expertise led to his promotion to the role of Chief Meteorologist in 2022.
During his off-duty hours, you can often find him gazing skyward, in hopeful anticipation of capturing one of the many breathtaking sunsets that mid-Missouri has to offer. Additionally, he takes pleasure in savoring the culinary delights of the numerous outstanding local restaurants in the area and cherishes moments spent with his loyal companion, Finn, his beloved canine friend.
