Bartlett is a co-anchor for FOX 56 News at 10 p.m. Since he joined the station he has won three regional Emmys for news writing and reporting, and in his career, he’s won more than a dozen reporting awards from the Associated Press. Apart from being an anchor, he is a managing editor for FOX 56 News and the producer/reporter of the weekly feature segment, “Spirit of the Bluegrass.”
Marvin’s first job in commercial television was in Paintsville, Kentucky, after having worked for his hometown newspaper and radio station and then at the public TV station at Ohio University. While in Paintsville, he worked for WCHS-TV in Charleston, West Virginia as the Eastern Kentucky Bureau Chief.
Afterward, in late 1987, Bartlett went to work in Lexington at the NBC affiliate. While there, he worked his way up from videographer/reporter to weekend anchor and then morning anchor. He has taught at the University of Kentucky School of Journalism and has been an adjunct professor at Florida A&M University. Marvin wrote “The Joy Cart,” in 2002 a book about an inspirational young cancer patient he met while on the job. An updated version, “The Boy Who Delivered Joy,” was published in 2019.
