Berset-Harris is a breast cancer survivor. She is an advocate for awareness and early detection. She made the announcement about her breast cancer only one month after marrying her husband. Berset-Harris stated that she would leave work for quite some time for ‘the second treatment after 8 years!’ She reminded her fans about her past battle with breast cancer (the first diagnosis). Berset-Harris’s treatments were done at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. She underwent several rounds of radiation and chemotherapies and finally went through surgery.

Berset-Harris was first diagnosed with breast cancer in the year 2009 at the age of 27. She underwent a bilateral mastectomy and was declared cancer-free for 2 years. She describes the second diagnosis as ‘different’ despite going through the rigors and challenges of fighting the disease. Berset-Harris says that many things were jeopardized by her second diagnosis. She also says that her husband’s support was one unwavering constant. She thanked her colleagues for the support also – they provided her with meals on Saturdays and Sundays and accompanied her to appointments.
