Charles serves WCMH as a weeknight anchor on NBC4 at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 11 p.m. He joined the NBC 4 News team in June 2020. Prior to this, he served in Atlanta as an anchor and a reporter. Additionally, he served in Greensboro as a morning news anchor for 7 years. Also, he served in Colombus, Cincinnati, and Shreveport as a producer and a reporter. However, his interest in news began at an early age.
For instance, when he was a middle schooler at Crestview Middle School, he served as a host for Kids Sundae, a weekly radio show. Furthermore, the program was telecasted on WCBE 90.5FM. To boot, he served as a young anchor and reporter for the Kids News Network, the weekly television program that was telecasted on Saturday mornings. Over the years, he has provided coverage for many stories.
For instance, he followed two viewers to the Bahamas to check on their families and childhood homes succeeding Hurricane Dorian. Moreover, he provided coverage for a presidential debate and three state political conventions. Further, he served as an anchor of a special broadcast on the scene of the Charleston church shootings. Second, Super Bowl LIII and the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs & Freedom.
Throughout the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, he interviewed multiple entertainment icons. Charles fancies giving back to the community and visits local students and organizations. Also, he serves on boards for St. Stephen’s Community House and the Neighborhood Design Center. In addition to that, he is involved in service projects through memberships with Phi Beta Sigma and the National Association of Black Journalists.
During his stint in North Carolina, he assisted debut a progressing effort that gives kids free haircuts, grooming lessons, lunches, and access to financial literacy workshops. Furthermore, he is an Emmy-awarded journalist and a member of the Morehouse College MLK College of Ministers and Laity (2018). Morehouse College MLK College of Ministers and Laity is an honorary college that honors professionals who, in part, utilize their platform to improve the lives of others. In 2014, the University of Cincinnati dubbed him a Communication Alumni Champion.
