During his first week on the job, he witnessed the passion the people of Oklahoma have to assist each other in their darkest hour when a tornado had just touched down in Woodward.
Additionally, there were volunteers who traveled for hours and served without sleep to assist survivors who lost everything. On May 20th, 2013 he and his photojournalist utilized a backpack unit to broadcast some of the initial live reports from Moore moments following a lethal EF5 tornado cut through town. Also, he was accorded a Heartland Emmy Award for his part in News 9’s nonstop broadcast of the calamity.
On a side note, he enjoys telling Oklahoma’s amazing stories. His series Red Dirt Diaries features a mix of characters who can be profiled as courageous, colorful, and quirky. was nominated for an Emmy. Else, he is a sports junkie. And, enjoys thinking of trades that would assist the Oklahoma City Thunder win a World Championship.
