Ilmer happens to be a chairman of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Broadcasters Association. In this role, he initiated the ILLINOIS BROADCASTERS UNITING AGAINST HUNGER campaign where they raised over $1.5 million for the Illinois food banks during the COVID-19 crisis.
The year 2019 saw him, co-chair, the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink of Greater Chicagoland campaign. This campaign was aimed at raising awareness and funds to save lives from breast cancer. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Greater Chicago Food Depository, 100 Club of Chicago, and USO of Illinois, which is in addition to serving the Executive Club of Chicago.
Additionally, he has received a mayoral appointment to serve on the State Street Commission. Idler is also an active member of the American Red Cross where he spearheaded a partnership that has resulted in the collection of more than 1800 units of blood. This is the largest single-day Red Cross Blood drive in the country.
