Chandler is a sports anchor and general assignment reporter working for NBC 4 New York. He covered sports for NBC 4 New York during the 2015 World Series, 2014 Stanley Cup Final, and Super Bowl XLVIII. Additionally, he has accompanied the New York Giants on their travels and provided real-time information. Chandler covered the Elmora “Troopers” of Elizabeth, New Jersey in 2019 as they made the unforgettable trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. 2020 New York Emmy® for sports reporting was given to him. For NBC 4 New York, Chandler also reports on breaking news and general assignment stories. Chandler, a writer at heart, won a 2018 New York Emmy® for news writing. He was awarded a second New York Emmy ® for his team’s coverage of the January 2018 blizzard a year later.
In January 2021, Chandler received the prestigious Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for “creat(ing) a 360 view in real time of the coronavirus pandemic. With courageous and thorough reporting on the virus’s explosion in New York City.” Chandler’s reporting was a crucial part of NBC 4 New York’s award-winning COVID-19 coverage. In addition, The duPont Award, given by Columbia University as well, is widely acknowledged as the Pulitzer Prize of the broadcast, documentary, and online worlds. Chandler worked as NBC Connecticut’s sports anchor for three years before joining NBC 4 in January 2014. He reported from the Boston Marathon, where he saw the 2013 bombing. Furthermore, he hosted the NBC Olympic Zone and Sunday Sports Replay.
At the same time, he worked as the primary weekday sports anchor for Clear Channel Radio’s Boston station, WEEI-FM. Which received the Marconi Award for National Sports Station of the Year in 2012.
