Through his years working with the ABC7 News Team, he has always been an integral part of the Eyewitness team. This is because he has reported on several news stories that are integral to the community. This includes the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series championship, the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Finals, the November 2013 tornado that devastated Washington, Illinois, and the historic 2011 Chicago blizzard.
Additionally, the year 2015 saw Horng working as part of ABC7’s Emmy Award-Winning coverage of two major stories. These stories include the release of video of the police-involved shooting of Laquan McDonald and the death of Fox Lake police lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz.
While at ABC News, he was also regularly filling in as an anchor for the early morning programs “America This Morning,” and “World News Now.” While there, he was covering several major stories for the station. These stories include the 2007 Minneapolis bridge collapse, the 2008 Northern Illinois University shooting, the Michael Jackson criminal trial in California, and Terri Schiavo’s legal battle in Florida. The year 2005 saw him file live reports from Louisiana during and after Hurricane Katrina made landfall. During the election night of 2008, he also filed reports from Chicago’s Grant Park and the site of President Obama’s victory speech.
Prior to joining the ABC team in the year 2003, he had also been working as a correspondent for the CNN team. Then, he was based in Atlanta from the year 1998 to the year 2000 and in Los Angeles from the years 2000 to years 2003. While working at CNN, he also had the privilege of reporting on several important stories to the people. There, he covered the Shuttle Columbia disaster, the Academy Awards, the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping case, and the Elian Gonzalez custody fight.
