After graduating from North Carolina State University, David started his career in television at WNCN, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Afterward, he moved to Huntington-Charleston, West Virginia, at WSAZ and then to Rochester, New York, and lake effect snow country at WHAM.
Later Aldrich got to return to his hometown by working at the fourth-largest television market in the country: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While there, he worked for four years at WTXF (Fox 29) as the weekend meteorologist where he forecast and produced the weather in the mornings for “Good Day Philadelphia.
David was then hired to serve the WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee, as the chief meteorologist from 2010 to 2019. That’s where a nickname soon emerged: “Captain Accurate.” He has earned the distinction of becoming a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM AMS) #166 with the American Meteorological Society and holds the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association (NWA).
