He kickstarted his journalism career working at WMAS in Springfield in 1970 where he served as a reporter and news anchor. In addition to his career as a journalist, he also worked as an adjunct professor at UMass from 2000 to 2014 where he was teaching and developing a television news reporting and writing course in the Journalism department.

Dave is an active volunteer in his community and is an active member and vice president of the Jimmy Fund Council of Western Massachusetts and he was previously the president. He was also a member of the Jimmy Fund – Jeffrey Vinick Classic, a well-known golf tournament. Moreover, Dave is also an emcee in charity organizations and fundraising including the Jimmy Fund, Dan Kane Singers, and Brightside. He is also an active member and volunteer at Baystate Health’s Rays of Hope Walk.

Since he started his journalism career, he has won several awards and honors including the Sr. M. Catherine Laboure Award from the Brightside for Families in Children. He also received the William D. Mullins Man of the Year Award and the Brightside Golf Classic’s William Corriden Award. Dave was inducted into the New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science’s Silver Circle in 2011. Later in 2017, Dave was in the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
