Prior to working at KTNV-TV, she worked at KVBC-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada where she served as an investigative reporter from 1995 to 2007. Previously, from September 1994 to May 1995, she worked at WBBM-TV based in Chicago, Illinois where she served as an investigative reporter. Apart from her career as a journalist, Spears was also featured in CNN’s This is Life with Lisa Ling and Netflix docuseries Tiger King.
Since she started her journalism career, she has won several awards and honors including 10 regional and two national Edward R. Murrow awards as well as 21 Emmys. She also received a National Press Club, Associated Press Award, and Genesis awards for her unparalleled journalism. On October 15, 2022, Darcy was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.
