Smith serves at WTVG Channel 13 as a weekend evening meteorologist. His forecasts appear at noon and at 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. He is thrilled to work with the 13abc First Warning Weather team. Before joining the station, he served at KLST News in San Angelo, Texas as a Chief Meteorologist for 4 years nd 7 months (July 2014 – Jan 2019). There he reported on baseball-sized hail, tornadoes, and flooding.
Smith has been passionate about the weather since he was young. He used to watch severe weather coverage on the Detroit, MI stations, and was intrigued by finding his hometown, Windsor, on the map right under the worst of the storm. In April 2019, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) honored Smith with their TV Seal of Approval.
Smith is a strong volunteer in the community. He has been serving at Relay For Life as a Team Captain since May 2018. There he helps in raising funds to benefit the American Cancer Society which advocates for cancer research. For nearly 5 years (Oct 2014 – Jan 2019), Smith served at Barbershop Harmony Society as a Bass Singer, where he performed different songs with the bass section as part of San Angelo’s award-winning barbershop chorus, “Twin Mountain Tonesmen.” During his leisure, he likes to watch hockey game, or head out to Cedar Point for a run at the greatest and latest scream machines.
