In 2010, Colleen joined Iowa State University where she attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology in 2014. Mehlberg serves as a meteorologist at NEWSnet based in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Prior to working at NEWSnet, she worked at WZTV based in Nashville, Tennesse where she served as a meteorologist from 2017 to August 2019. In this role, she analyzed and interpreted weather data through the use of radar, model output, sensors, and satellites. She also collaborated with other meteorologists at the station and participated in community outreach events to promote weather awareness and weather safety.
Prior to working at WZTV, she worked at WPBN-TV where she served as a meteorologist from August 2014 to March 2017. During her tenure at WPBN, she led the installation of a computer graphics system and collaborated with 3 National Weather Service offices to prepare forecasts.
Previously, from April 2014 to August 2014, she worked at ABC5 TV based in Des Moines, Iowa where she served as a temporary meteorologist. In this role, she worked alongside other meteorologists in presenting the forecast on several multimedia platforms. She also attended conferences and functions to promote the station.
