While growing up, he was always passionate about the weather. He experienced some big weather events such as the Great Flood of 1993 and the “blizzard” of 1982.
Lampkin has worked as a weekend morning meteorologist for KSDK-TV in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed from the station in the year 2015 for an adventure Down Under. He also worked for MetService New Zealand as a meteorologist for 2 years. He went back to KSDK in April 2017 and this time round he worked as a weekday morning meteorologist.
Lampkin reported on the costliest hailstorm in St. Louis history in the year 2012, during his time in St.Louis, MO. Also, he covered major flooding in the year 2019 and many tornado events, and winter storms. While in New Zealand, he provided reports on one of the most deadly and severe tropical systems recorded in the history of the southern hemisphere, Cyclone Winston.
Lampkin started his broadcasting career at KJCT News 8 in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he served as a morning meteorologist. He has also served as morning & chief meteorologist at KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, Missouri. Additionally, he has worked as a morning meteorologist for KTSM-TV (NBC) in El Paso, Texas. During his leisure, he likes jogging, listening to music, playing baseball, rooting for college basketball, and traveling.
