Haertl serves KDVR as a sports reporter and sports anchor. He joined the FOX 31 team in May 2016. Additionally, he has served in the sports television industry for more than 3 decades. Further, he served as a freelance play-by-play for four years. During that time, he did college basketball, baseball, and softball games for ESPN, Fox, Cox, and the Missouri Valley Conference Network.
Additionally, he did Sooner Sports TV (University of Oklahoma TV Network), and Oral Roberts Basketball Network. In addition to that, he spent 10 years on the K-State Football Radio Network. Moreover, he served for 15 seasons as the television voice of Wichita State basketball and baseball. However, he got into the TV industry when he served KWCH-TV in Wichita in October 1984 as a sports director.
Furthermore, he served the station for 28 years. While there, he provided coverage for three World Series, seven College World Series, seven Final Fours, 24 NCAA Tournaments, and 19 bowl games counting four BCS games. Also, he serves as a member of the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.
