Upon completion of his high school education, Tomer went on to join Valparaiso University. After completing his undergraduate studies, he became its alumnus with honors and attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. During his college, years he served as a basketball player.

Tomer serves KDVR as a forecaster for Colorado’s Own Channel 2 and FOX31 Denver. Also, he serves as a fully certified meteorologist having gained the CBM and NWA Seals of Approval. Further, he serves on the NWA panel of Television Seal evaluators.
Additionally, he has specialized knowledge of Mountain Meteorology. When he is not working, he climbs mountains, runs trails, and snow skis. Moreover, he finished climbing all 58 of Colorado’s 14ers in 2009 counting the four big 14er Traverses. Numerous of his adventures are showcased on Channel 2 under the name of “Tomer’s Trails.” Else, he attained an Emmy Award for his 2015 Tomer’s Trails stories.
In addition to that, he serves as a bestselling author. In 2011, he served as a co-author of Sleeping on the Summits: Colorado Fourteener High Bivys, which was a Colorado Bestseller during the summer of 2012. The book attained two important book awards in 2013 counting the Colorado Book Award and IPPY Award. To boot, he has published a peer-reviewed meteorology article in the National Weather Association’s Journal of Operational Meteorology.
Furthermore, he serves as a sought-after public speaker. On a side note, his resume counts more than 100 visits to Front Range schools, keynote speaking roles at business luncheons, and targeted presentations at private companies. Also, he has served as a fire weather forecaster for the private sector. Withal, private sector aviation forecasting, MC at charity events, book signings.
Moreover, he has done motivational speeches, performance tips for TV and media presentations, and educational workshops at Front Range REI stores.
